"Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar."  Proverbs 30:5,6

What is Religion?

Religions tend to be conservative. They eschew change. (This is why traditions are so debilitating to the truth.) Any change needs to be given by God, and not devised by man. The Bible conveys itself as a progressive revelation. God narrates His growing and changing relationships with His creation - man. He unveils these changes and how they come about and how they relate to that which came before - how they are consistent with His eternal purpose that He purposed in Christ!

Now Islam claims that the Quran is the final revelation of God, and Muhammad is His last Prophet. By their principle of nullification, Muslims believe that their "revelation" supplants that which came before - anything that conflicts has been canceled and replaced. And yet they try to honor that which came before - the Law, the Psalms, and the Gospel. They can't. The differences are so many, so blatant, so obvious - there is no basis for reconciliation. To cover these irreconcilable differences, they have come up with the shift that the Bible has been changed, or corrupted by the Christians. But there is no evidence for this - there is no "before", and no "after" to compare, to see if their claim is true. And the Quran gives no reconciliation of how it builds upon, or adds to, that which came before it - it only conflicts. In fact, most of Islam is a throwback to the patriarchal age, with added laws, like those of Moses - no advance. Islam fails in its claims of being God's latest and last revelation!

I cannot be a Muslim because they handle the Word of God deceitfully.

"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accused."   Galatians 1:8,9

Islam claims that the "revelation" of the Quran was conveyed "word for word" from Allah to Muhammad by Gabriel - it is word perfect. And yet there is no salvation in the Quran. There is Judgment, Punishment, Paradise, and Reward, but no salvation. Allah is sovereign without restraint - He has mercy on who he will have mercy, or not, according to his (arbitrary) will. For in the Quran there is no conception that Allah is constrained by his Person, or his promise to save anyone. You do good works to balance out your sins, but you don't know when and if you have done enough to be sure of your salvation. Allah is given 99 titles, but they do not include righteous or love.

Yet in the Gospel (the "good news" of the grace of God) we rejoice in the righteousness of God which makes Him just and the justifier of those who trust in Jesus (see Romans 3:19-26). He is constrained by His own character to provide "a way of escape that we may be able bear it", and He completely saves, and everlastingly saves, those that trust in the finished work of Christ on the Cross for the substitutionary payment of their sins. One can be saved and know they are saved, as assuredly as they can trust the promise of God! God cannot lie, and will keep His word! "If our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart."

The Christian can have a "know so" salvation, rather than a "maybe so" salvation.

I cannot be a Muslim, because I would lose the joy and consolation of an ACCOMPLISHED salvation. :)

"...Whom do men say that I the Son of Man am?" And they said, "Some say that you are John the Baptist: some Elias; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets." He said unto them, "But who do you say that I am?" And Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."   Matthew 16:13-16

Muhammad, in his failure to understand the Christian message, and unable to read he Bible, demoted the Lord Jesus Christ to being just a prophet, amongst thousands of prophets, while he claimed to be the best and last. This One whom John says Isaiah saw in His glory in the temple (John 12, compare with Isaiah 6); whom the angels are told to adore (and bow down to) and is the glory and express image of God (Hebrews 1); to whom every knee will bow and every tongue confess is Lord (Philippians 2); Who created all things and holds them together (Colossians 1); Who contains the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians 2) and is our Life (Colossians 3); and in Whom we are complete (Colossians 2:10) - Islam says is just a man, and DID NOT die on the Cross.

This One Who is central to the eternal counsels and purposes of God, without which there is NO salvation, has no place in Islam but that of an exalted prophet, who will be at the Day of Judgment. But to the born again Christian He is their Savior and Lover of their souls. They have seen the sight of peerless worth and are enamored by Him. We are in love with Him, and He is worth more than life to us! ("He died for us that we might not live to ourselves ,but to Him who died for us.") We can't imagine life without the Lord Jesus Christ!

I cannot be a Muslim because they have taken away my Savior, and have denigrated the Son of God!

"They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him." John 20:2

In Christ we shall remain.
